Reports to: Park Director

POSITION OVERVIEW

Supervises a pool staff, assigns staff workload and duties, manages and records financial information and maintenance schedules, meets needs of pool patrons, and maintains a clean work environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be reliable, dependable, and trustworthy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervising pool activities. Schedules staff and assigns duties. Collects and records all pool fees. Maintains a log of daily attendance. Maintains all records required by the park director and health department, including but not limited to: testing and evaluating of pool conditions (pH and chlorine levels), financials, maintenance/cleaning schedules, opening and closing assignments.

Administer first aid and care as required by the professional rescuer. Follow facility emergency action plan. Complete injury reports. Respond quickly and professionally to emergencies. Be safety conscious on and off duty. Lead staff meeting and in-service training. Enforce pool rules. At opening and closing, inspects facilities for general cleanliness. Provide information and resolve issues with patrons in a respectful and friendly manner.

Must be able to work weekdays, weeknights, weekends, holidays and split shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

General education

Must be at least 19 years of age or older

  1. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

Knowledge of proper use of lifeguard and pool equipment.

Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid for the professional rescuer and standard resuscitation measures (CPR)

Knowledge of rules and regulations governing conduct of public at pools

Knowledge of swimming pool sanitation

Skilled in swimming

Ability to react quickly and calmly to an emergency

Ability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR

Ability to adequately supervise a group of lifeguards and pool staff

Must be able to swim

Must be able to sit for long periods of time

Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and pool patrons (adult and children)

Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Must attend and lead a TEAM in-service training session.

  1. Certifications or Licenses Required

Red Cross or equivalent adult and infant CPR certification and First Aid for the professional rescuer certification. Successful completion of a lifeguard training class and hold a current lifeguard certification, preferred but not required. Certification must be on file prior to pool opening.

SALARY

$10.00 per hour non-lifeguard certification

$12.00 per hour with current lifeguard certification
